The Ross of Mull peninsula and Iona

Walk 1:

Ardtun—Fossil Leaf Beds and Columnar Basalt Cliffs.
An  easy short coastal walk below and above basalt cliffs with interesting geology and spectacular views. Ground tending to be wet and slippery, good waterproof walking boots required.

Walk 2:

Camas Tuath (North Bay)
A short walk across open moor land on the Ross of Mull to a narrow bay. A bonnie quiet spot with historic cottages.


Walk 3:

Carsaig Arches
A long walk below the dramatic Carsaig Cliffs taking in the spectacular sea views, cliffs and varying wildlife arriving at the natural basalt arches of Malcolm's Point, another geological wonder of Mull.

Walk 4:

The Isle of Erraid
An excursion to the tidal island lying just off the south west corner of the Ross of Mull. It has historical connections with the relatives of the famous writer Robert Louis Stevenson, who was part of the 'Stevenson lighthouse family' and who was best known for his adventure story entitled 'Kidnapped'.

Walk 5:

The North Walk - Nunnery, Iona Abbey, Dun I & Beaches
A gentle walk visiting some of the historical sites as well as enjoying some of the most beautiful powder white sandy beaches in the world.

Walk 6:

Iona  I Chalium Cille - The Isle of Columcille - St. Columba
A more strenuous walk for the more fitter amongst you across the machair on to the south west side and over to Columba's Bay.

Walk 7:

Kilvicheoun Cemetary & Beach / Scoor & Shiaba
A day out exploring the southern cost of the Ross of Mull. Grand cliff top views, remote beaches, and an abandoned highland township.

Walk 8:

Kintra (gaelic for “end of the beach”) a walk to Braighcreich ( top end of Creich )
A short easy walk to a peaceful valley and deserted island township. Waterproof  boots recommended.

Walk 9:

Lochbuie Standing Stones, Moy Castle and Laggan Sands
Combine a day out with a drive to Loch Buie and two short walks and a longer walk to the Standing Stones and the Maclaine stronghold of Moy Castle in the scenic and historic glen of Lochbuie plus a longer walk to Laggan Sands.  All three walks are in the setting of the magnificent backdrop of Ben Buie.

Walk 10:

Fionnphort Beach - Tormore Pier - Tormore Quarry
A short rugged coastal walk along the scenic Iona Sand. Enjoy stunning seascapes and views to Iona and Abbey and explore the history of the Tormore Quarries.

Walk 11:

The Burg and Fossil Tree
A 10 mile all day excursion equipped with proper footwear
